Matcha Tools
Traditional Matcha preparation uses a few key tools. Each one improves texture, consistency, and the overall ritual.

Essential matcha tools
Chasen (Bamboo Whisk)
A bamboo whisk used to create smooth texture and foam.
- Usually 80–120 prongs
- Helps eliminate clumps
- Creates the classic creamy top layer
Chawan (Matcha Bowl)
A wide bowl designed for whisking.
- Allows enough space for movement
- Helps create better foam
- Available in ceramic styles and sizes
Chashaku (Bamboo Scoop)
Traditional bamboo scoop for measuring matcha.
- Typically 1–2 scoops for one serving
- Gives more consistent portions
Furui (Matcha Sifter)
Used before whisking.
- Removes clumps
- Produces smoother texture
- Important for ceremonial-grade matcha
Kusenaoshi (Whisk Holder)
Ceramic whisk stand.
- Keeps the whisk shape intact
- Extends whisk lifespan
- Prevents bending of bamboo prongs
